Disney’s animated series “Barbies” has returned to television, with season four premiering Friday on Disney XD.
The fifth and final season of the Disney Channel hit will air in its entirety, featuring more than 100 episodes, with episodes airing in real time.
Season five will begin airing on Disney Channel in late 2018, according to the network.
“Barbie is back!
She’s a little bit crazy in the middle of her love affair, but she’s also the funniest person I know,” said Disney Channel President and CEO Jennifer Koss.
“We have some of the funnest, most talented and best-looking women on TV, and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
Barbie, the most famous and loved of all of Disney’s Barbie dolls, is known for her unique beauty and personality.
The popular character, which was introduced in 1977 and is now in over 500 million homes worldwide, has appeared in movies, TV shows, and video games, and is one of the most well-known and recognizable characters in the world.
The series has aired for over 50 years and has been nominated for five Emmys.
In addition to returning to the air, Disney XD will release a new animated series starring Disney star Jaden Smith, which is slated to premiere in 2018.
Disney XD has also picked up two new series: “Dance Moms” (launched in 2017) and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“We are thrilled to premiere a new Disney series called ‘Barbies’,” said Koss in a statement.
“Barbershop Barbie” is the fourth Disney Channel series to be made exclusively for the network, following “Barbays,” “Barbs,” and “Barby’s Friends.”
